1080p material no longer playing smoothly suddenly since windows update kb955759 (Solved!)

Question/Problem:

It took me a while to find out since suddenly my computer stopped playing 1080p material smoothly on VLC or any other player. 720p material still played fine on my 40" Samsung TV. The culprit? Microsoft! After uninstalling kb955759 everything was suddenly back to it's normal perfectly good performance.
