ISA Server failed to activate the Firewall Engine with code 0x800706f8
Question/Problem:
I installed some updates for my ISA server 2003, and now it's giving me this error in the eventlog with event ID 21094 event source Microsoft Firewall:
"ISA Server failed to activate the Firewall Engine with code 0x800706f8"
It's running on Windows 2003.
The answer/solution:
You probably could not start the services manually either, and ISA server is stuck somewhere in the update process. Shut down the server and reboot, if the server still doesn't come up install any additional updates (from Microsoft Update, not Windows Update), and reboot again.
